Asbury United Methodist Church - Student Ministry Purpose Statement: Our student ministry exists to REACH out to others, to CONNECT students to Christ, to help them GROW in their faith, and to challenge and DISCOVER new possibilities as we HONOR our awesome God.

  Asbury YOU-th Program

youthyouth

The youth program at Asbury United Methodist Church is designed to provide a safe, spiritual, and exciting enviroment for youth in 7th through 12th grades. Our church provides small groups, activities, and events to give youth a chance to learn, grow, strengthen their faith, and make lifelong friendships along the way!

At Asbury, we offer a variety of programs just for YOU-th! We have two weekly programs on Sunday & Wednesday nights. Each Sunday morning, our committed teachers lead Jr. & Sr. High Sunday School. In addition to our weekly programming, we offer retreats, breakaways, and exciting Mission and Mystery trips! We also rotate a Ski Trip and New York Trip. We offer a special summer calendar with poolside Bible Studies and our P.I.G.S. service group. We also have opportunities for teens interested in leading worship through our Worship Team program and Youth Handbell Choir. Check out our website for more info on these exciting activities for young people!

United Methodist Youth Fellowship takes place each Sunday in "The Lodge" youth space at Asbury United Methodist Church! Every Sunday night from 5-6:30pm we gather for fellowship. In this time together, we have programs that relate to youth. We meet to play, pray, discuss and learn from each other! UMYF is a casual time to just be yourself---a weekly time to be here and near each other and draw closer to Christ.

Element_8091a.jpg

Each year the Asbury Jr Hi Youth are taken on a mystery trip where they learn about faith and trust. They know nothing about the location or activities that they will take part in. Each year is such an adventure! See the photos below for the latest one this summer and the two trips previously.

Missions & Service
Element_4405a.JPG

The Youth Department is committed to reaching out in service to others. We have a year round mission program within our youth program. Our Youth Council Leadership Team sponsors mission events from raising $ for St. Jude's Children's Hospital to serving meals at Providence House.

Asbury has committed to sending a group every month to New Orleans for Hurricane Relief mission trips. The youth have coordinated two of the trips and have sent representatives on many of the ongoing trips. (photo to left and album at bottom). The experience has been like no other. We are overwhelmed by the need and are glad that we can make a small contribution in the lives that we touch.

We also participate in local mission events and service projects. In the summer, we have a Sr. High service team named "P.I.G.S." (Participating In God's Service) that volunteers with children in local hospitals. We have a Sr. High Navajo Mission/Adventure Trip to Arizona (photos below) in June. Jr. & Sr. Highs can be a part of "Weekend of The Cross" each July. W.O.C. is a 4-day mission experience right here in Shreveport-Bossier.
